AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS

The Tertiary Awards Programme (TAP) is the national focal point for Cook Islands government administered schiolarships, New Zealand Aid and AusAid scholarships for studies at the tertiary and vocational levels.  Scholarships that are available and administered by TAP are as follows:

1. CIGOV In-country Scholarships funded by CI’s government. Available on to resident Cook Islanders who are studying part time towards a tertiary qualification while working within the Cook Islands.  The scholarship entitlement is only for full payment of approved course fees.  Depending on funding availability, partial funding for prescribed textbooks per course may be included.

2. Cook Islands Government Scholarship (CIGS) funded by the CI’s government. Available to New Zealand only for qualification completion.
3. NZAid & AusAid Regional Development Scholarships (RDS) funded by NZAID and AUSAID and available to regional institutions only, e.g. USP, Fiji.
4. New Zealand Development Pacific Scholarships (NZPS) funded by NZAID. Available to New Zealand only where the course of study is not available at regional institutes.  This scholarship is in place of the New Zealand Development Scholarship (NZDS).  This is a new scholarship where recipients will be required to study with funding under normal New Zealand student loan procedures with Studylink NZ.  In addition New Zealand Aid will provide additional financial assistance, access to leadership programmes, bonuses for high achievers and such. After completion of studies the student is contracted to come home and work.  For approved duration of employment in the Cook Islands, New Zealand Aid assists with student loan repayments.
