Here are some commonly asked questions:

 

Q: When do you advertise to apply for scholarships to study overseas?

A:  Once a year around May/June for New Zealand Pacific Scholarships (NZPS) to NZ, NZAid/AusAid Regional Developmental Scholarships (RDS) to the region (Fiji, Vanuatu, Samoa). At the same time we also advertise Cook Islands Government In country Tuition Award Scholarships (ITAS).


Around November/December we also advertise Cook Islands Government Scholarships (CIGS).  The CIGS is a scholarship to complete the last two years of a current tertiary level qualification at an approved NZ tertiary institute.


Q: I am a resident Cook Islander and have passed a course I paid for at USP, Cook Islands. I am planning to do more part time studies next semester while living in the Cook Islands.  How can DNHRD help me to pay for my course fees?

A: Apply for partial reimbursement of the course that you have completed through the In Country Student Assistance Fund (SAF).  Applications to SAF are open all year round.  However, claims for assistance with payment of course fees and prescribed textbooks must be for the current fiscal year.
