ABOUT CITTC
The Cook Islands Trades Training Centre has been operating for the last 5 years from its base in Arorangi on the main island of Rarotonga. Two full time staff as well as 10 part time tutors forms the nucleus of the CITTC team.
The school offers a wide range of courses within the trades areas; Electrical, Telecommunications Automotive, Carpentry and Drain-laying. By the end of 2011 the school will also offer a qualification in Plumbing.
There are a variety of types of training available; night courses , transition courses for college students 11 week short term courses for outer island students. We also provide the training for outer island colleges and communities. All qualifications are recognized by NZQA and are offered to a trade’s qualification (level 4). There are also trades courses available for second chance learners and also courses that provide training for local community groups.
The CITTC provides training materials from The Open polytechnic of New Zealand, Unitec, Waikato Institute of Technology, and also BCITO for courses run through the centre. The CITTC also works closely with various industry training organizations of New Zealand to ensure the quality of courses provided and also the standard of its facilities meets their requirements. These ito include ETITO (Electrical) PDITO (plumbing and drain-laying) BCITO (building construction) as well as MITO (motor industry).
The school boasts 3 workshops,( electrical automotive and carpentry) 3 lecture rooms a training sand pit a student canteen with various outdoor eating areas and an up to date computer suite along with some of the latest training aids.
